Brantly Bright Shapiro trained at the San Francisco Ballet School Under a Ford Foundation grant and subsequently danced with San Francisco Ballet and taught in the company’s school. She danced in the Basler Stadt Theatre in Basel, Switzerland and taught master classes in the theater’s pre-professional school. While in Switzerland, she performed in film and video specials for the Swisse-Romande Radio-TV Network. A recipient of a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts and Humanities, she has taught in the University of Texas dance department in Austin, Texas and directed the Dancentre school in Austin. Ms. Shapiro has been a guest with the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle and has taught widely throughout the United States including Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Washington and California. She received the 1996 North Carolina School of the Arts teacher of the year award, and is on the summer faculty at the North Carolina School of the Arts. She currently teaches all the ballet classes for the Wake Forest Community Ballet Program and is a member of the university’s ballet faculty.
