Postgraduate Teacher-Scholar Fellow

Kaylin Gess is a lighting designer, scenic designer, and educator, who is passionate about storytelling and live performance.  You may have seen her work as scenic and lighting designer on last year’s Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom or her lighting design on the department’s production of Urinetown. Gess has worked all over the east coast as a designer, but is now very excited to call Winston Salem and Wake Forest, “home”. Gess was previously a Charlotte-based Lighting Designer, Scenic Designer, and Scenic Painter who worked as the Assistant Technical Director at Davidson College, her alma mater from 2017-2020. Professional design credits include: Davidson Community Players, Adjusted Realists, Ivoryton Playhouse, NC Stage Company, River and Rail Theatre, Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte, Jobsite Theatre, Hat Trick Theatre, Patel Conservatory, M.A.D. Theatre of Tampa, and Davidson College. Kaylin holds a B.A. in Theatre from Davidson College and an MFA in Lighting Design from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. More of her work can be viewed at her website: www.kaylinjgess.com.
