John E. R. Friedenberg
Associate Teaching Professor

Director of Theatre at Wake Forest University and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre & Dance where he has taught for over 20 years, Mr. Friedenberg’s background is in design and production, directing and producing.  In addition to work in the professional theatre, he has served on the boards of several theatre and arts organizations.  His particular interests lie in the intersection of disciplines in liberal arts that permits the student to explore the interconnectedness of art, culture, science and politics.  A secondary focus is in the pedagogy of fusing the theoretical and practical and the insights and realizations that spring from that combination.  Since 2002, he has worked developing the admissions and recruiting process in education and has presented workshops and panels on this topic for various conferences across the country.

BTW, he goes by JERF, his initials.
